Come and get your hair care and styling products at Shellie's.

Summer is hard on the hair! Sun, wind, more sun, and then you look in the mirror and to your horror, you have "Blonderexia."  If you are blonder than you started out this summer, it's because the sun lightens and damages your already lightened hair or fades the color you had.  Maybe it's time to tone it down and add some low lights.  Shellie can suggest what colors would be most flattering for you and get rid of your "Blonderexia!"  Getting regular trims throughout the hot weather is a must!  Also, try a deep conditioner.  Shellie has a variety of conditioners from which to choose for an additonal $7.00 per service, and it comes with a heavenly scalp massage.  Just ask for it when you make your appointment.  This can be done right after a color process and makes your hair silky and shiny.

Did you know that there are many items in your kitchen pantry that are excellent for your skin and hair?

  • For an itchy dry scalp, try a teaspoon or two of Extra Virgin Olive Oil.  Massage into your finger tips and then onto your dry scalp and hair, beginning with the scalp and working down to the ends.  Put a towel onto your pillow and go to bed.  When you wake up, shampoo and condition as normal.  The molecules in olive oil are small enough to really penetrate the skin and  hair, thereby improving its overall condition.  This can be done weekly.  Use more if you have more hair.

  • To improve your complexion, gently rub a Raw Potato onto your face.  This vitamin C rich vegetable will cleanse, tone and moisturize your skin, leaving it smooth and supple.  Avoid the eyes when rubbing, rinse with warm water and pat dry.

  • A great mousse for your hair is Egg Whites, stiffly beaten.  Apply like any mousse, style as usual or scrunch.  Not only will it hold your style in well, the protein in the egg is very enriching for your hair.
